Sales analysis software

Sales analytics for restaurants and retail shops

Most POS systems give you a revenue report. Very few tell you why a day was good or bad, or what to do about it. Real sales analysis connects the numbers to the people in the store and the hours they came.

Why revenue reports are not sales analysis

Revenue is one number made of several moving parts: how many people came in, how many of them bought, and how much each buyer spent. When revenue drops, any of these could be the cause, and each one needs a different fix.

Sales analysis means breaking revenue into those parts so you can see which lever moved. Without that, owners tend to react with discounts, which can hurt margin when the real problem was a slow queue or an empty shelf.

The core formula behind every sales report

Every shop's revenue follows the same simple chain:

  • Revenue = Visitors × Conversion rate × Average ticket
  • Visitors come from your door counter, not your POS.
  • Conversion is buyers divided by visitors (see how to calculate it).
  • Average ticket is revenue divided by the number of transactions.

Example500 visitors × 0.25 conversion × 60 SAR average ticket = 7,500 SAR. If next week revenue falls to 6,000 SAR with the same 500 visitors, you know the drop came from conversion or ticket size, not traffic.

What to track every week

Hourly patterns matter most for staffing and stock. Our guide to peak hours analysis goes deeper.

  • Revenue by hour and by day, not only daily totals.
  • Transactions and average ticket, side by side.
  • Best and weakest products or categories, and when they sell.
  • Each branch against its own past weeks, then against other branches.
  • Sales during and after a campaign compared with a normal week.

Common sales analysis mistakes

  • Comparing this Friday with last Tuesday instead of with last Friday.
  • Ignoring seasonality such as Ramadan, school holidays, paydays and long weekends.
  • Looking at revenue without transaction counts, so price changes hide falling customer numbers.
  • Reading reports once a month, when the problem started weeks earlier.
  • Building spreadsheets every week by hand, then never having time to act on them.

How Tapsiera analyses your sales

Tapsiera connects with your POS and sales data and combines it with visitor counts from the door sensor and your staffing. It shows which part of the chain moved, then turns it into a decision in riyals: conversion dropped at one branch on weekend evenings, or average ticket rose after you added a combo.

You can ask the AI assistant in Arabic, for example which branch had the weakest week and why, and get a weekly summary on WhatsApp. When something drops below normal, an alert reaches you the same day instead of at month end. For what is coming next, see sales forecasting.

ExampleTapsiera shows average ticket fell from 58 to 51 SAR at one branch after a menu change. Restoring the old bundle could bring back around 2,000 SAR a month.

A quick checklist before you buy sales analysis software

  • Does it explain why sales moved, or only show that they did?
  • Does it include visitors, not only transactions?
  • Can you compare branches on one screen?
  • Does it work in Arabic, including the reports your managers read?
  • Will it alert you, or do you have to remember to check?
  • Can you see it working before you pay? With Tapsiera you can try the demo with sample café and mall data at app.tapsiera.com.

Frequently asked questions

I already have reports in my POS. What does sales analysis add?

POS reports show what was sold. Tapsiera adds visitors and staffing, so you can see why sales moved and what to change.

Does it work for both restaurants and retail?

Yes. The same chain of visitors, conversion and average ticket applies to cafés, restaurants, retail shops and mall stores.

Can I ask questions in Arabic?

Yes. Tapsiera is Arabic-first, and the AI assistant answers questions about your sales in Arabic.

What if I don't have a POS system?

It still works. Tapsiera texts you on WhatsApp each night asking for the day's sales, and you reply with the number or a photo of the closing report, or upload an Excel file.

How much does Tapsiera cost?

199 SAR per branch per month, VAT included. The door sensor is 1,599 SAR one time per sensor with installation included, and you can reserve now for 99 SAR, which is deducted from your first payment.
